Bengaluru: A lot of political activity is taking place in Karnataka ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. If you ask who is keen for the Lok Sabha elections to ensue and ongoing drama to end, the answer is Mandya MP Sumalatha, who seems tensed as there is a strong buzz that the BJP and the JD (S) are going for an alliance to face theLok Sabha elections.
It is said that this news has led Sumalatha to worry and the question arises as to what is in the mind of Sumalatha, who is a staunch enemy of the JD (S). This is because if there is an alliance between the JD (S) and the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections, the Mandya Lok Sabha seat will go to the JD (S). Sumalatha, who fought against the JD (S) and came to power in the constituency, is likely to lose the seat.
If the alliance is confirmed, Sumalatha will inevitably have to campaign for the JD(S). So there is no doubt that Sumalatha will be in trouble.
Speaking to the mediapersons about the BJP-JD (S) alliance, Sumalatha has said, “I don’t see any response to the discussions and speculations about the alliance. I haven’t thought about elections yet. If such a situation arises, I will respond to you at that time itself,” she said.
Meanwhile, Sumalatha is said to be eyeing the Bengaluru North Lok Sabha constituency with Sadananda Gowda, who is currently an MP there unlikely to get a ticket. In view of this, she is said to be seeking a ticket from Bengaluru North constituency if she loses the Mandya seat.
However, Former Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar, who lost the Assembly elections, is also likely to seek a ticket from Bengaluru North. Sudhakar had already been instructed by the High Command to organise the party in Chikkaballapura constituency. Sudhakar’s political future is likely to suffer a major blow if he loses in Chikkaballapura. In view of this, he is preparing to ask for a ticket from Bengaluru North as a safe constituency.
However, when asked if there is a possibility of losing the Lok Sabha ticket, Gowda said, “I don’t know why such confusion is being created. I am sure I will get a ticket this time too.”
