Bengaluru: The city’s Jayadeva Metro Station, an impressive multi-level metro interchange station situated on Bannerghatta Road, is expected to open its doors to the public by the end of this year. This station holds the distinction of being the largest metro station in the city and slated to become partially operational as part of the yellow and pink metro rail lines starting from December 2023. Spanning across the Yellow Line, which connects R. V. Road to Bommasandra, and the Pink Line, linking Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, Jayadeva Metro Station has been designed to cater to the needs of around 25000 passengers during peak hours. BMRCL officials have reported that approximately 90% of the station’s construction work has been completed, occupying an impressive area of 19,826 sq km. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is determined to meet its deadlines and aims to commence the operation of the Yellow Line by 2023, while the Pink Line is projected to be operational by March 2025.
BMRCL’s Managing Director, Anjum Parvez, shared his excitement about the station’s significance, stating that Jayadeva Metro Station is an integral part of the second phase of the metro project, encompassing two crucial lines. The first of these lines, the R. V Road to Bommasandra route, is set to be operational by the year’s end, with a total of 16 metro stations, including the remarkable Jayadeva Station, being established along the 19 km route. However, the full functionality of the Jayadeva Interchange Metro Station will be realised after the launch of commercial train services on the Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara.
Anticipating the station’s complete operational status, BMRCL officials foresee Jayadeva Metro Station becoming one of the busiest stations in the city, second only to the bustling Kempegowda station in Majestic.
