Bengaluru: Karnataka is facing dearth of effective leaders in BJP, who can bring about meaningful change. The absence of strong leadership has become especially apparent after the departure of Former BJP Chief Minister Yediyurappa from active politics. His replacement, Basavaraj Bommai, has not been able to inspire confidence in the community as a whole. Further, the BJP could potentially benefit from the situation by wooing neglected Congress members to the fold before they switch to the JD (S).
Meanwhile, the Congress party is still searching for a charismatic leader who can attract the support of the Backward Classes. Although Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is a popular choice, there are doubts about whether he can garner the votes needed to win. Also, it is impossible to consolidate the votes of the Backward Classes if the Congress does not publicly declare the leaders soon enough.
The JD (S) party, led by Former CM Kumaraswamy, seems to have received a positive response from voters going by the response to his Pancharatna Yatra, but it remains to be seen whether this will translate into actual votes. The main reason for this is that it has been labelled as a party of Vokkaligas. This gives the party no guarantee of winning more seats in North Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka, Central Karnataka and Hyderabad Karnataka.
