Animals are spending a lot of time doing nothing. Still, it is exciting to see why they are doing it.
Some animals take a lot of time for their metabolism or burn a lot of energy, which they need to regain while resting. For most, while for not all of these animals, there is a reason for them being “lazy”.
Pygmy blue-tongued lizard
These lizards are found in Australia and are known for being incredibly lazy. They spend most of their time sitting in spider caves, waiting for food to fall into their mouths. They even wait for raindrops to fall on their tongues so they can drink.
Pandas
Pandas are another famously lazy animal. They spend most of their day eating bamboo, sleeping, or just lounging around. They only move when they absolutely have to, and they even have a special way of walking that conserves energy.
Koalas
Koalas are also known for their laziness. They sleep for up to 20 hours a day and only wake up to eat eucalyptus leaves. They are so lazy that they don’t even have to drink water, as they get all the moisture they need from the leaves they eat.
Opossums
Opossums are another North American animal that is known for being lazy. They sleep for up to 18 hours a day and are only active at night. They are also very good at playing dead, which is a great way to avoid predators.
Hippopotamus
Hippopotamus are giant, lazy animals that spend most of their day submerged in water. They only come out to eat at night, and they are very aggressive when they do. Hippos are also very territorial, and they will fight to the death to protect their territory.
