Bengaluru: The State Health Department has issued an order making it mandatory to grow and maintain plants and trees in every Government hospital premises. Now that the Health Department has to visit all the hospitals and check if the departments order is followed.
In a circular, the Health Department has informed that in the premises of the District Hospital, Taluk Hospital, Health and Wellness Centers, Primary Health Centers and health institutions, plants that provide good ventilation and medicinal plants/trees should be grown and maintained properly.
The Health Department has taken a new step to avoid the adverse effects of climate change on human health. Under the national programme on `Climate Change and Human Health’, it has been stated that plants/trees should be grown compulsorily as per the guidelines of the Central Government.
Planting of trees creates a green environment in the premises of Health and Wellness Centres. In addition, ground water level increases due to absorption of rainwater by land. So the Health Department has warned to manage the planted plants in a proper manner.
It has advised to finish the border planting activity in the hospital premises compulsorily within the month of July. It has warned that the patients coming to the hospital should get fresh air in such a way that the plants and trees should be grown in hospital premises.
