In a recent revelation, Stability AI CEO Emad Mostaque foresees a somber future for outsourced coders in India, predicting that a significant portion of them will lose their jobs within the next year or two.
The cause behind this anticipated upheaval is the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in software development, leading to a substantial reduction in the demand for human involvement.
Mostaque elaborated on the many effects of this AI development on various vocations during a teleconference with UBS analysts at the Swiss investment firm. While he acknowledged that not everyone will be equally impacted, he underlined that outsourced programmer, especially those up to level three programmers, are most vulnerable to automation-related obsolescence.
Indian IT services and consulting behemoths like Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech, and Tech Mahindra, which have long been prominent players in the outsourcing business, may confront difficult obstacles as AI’s influence in the sector grows.
