The recently released biopic of Robert Oppenheimer, the brilliant mind behind the world’s first atomic bomb, has garnered widespread acclaim, but it appears not everyone shares the same sentiment.
Sam Altman, the CEO of Open AI, expressed his disappointment on Twitter, stating that he had hoped the movie would inspire the younger generation to pursue physics, but in his opinion, it “really missed the mark on that.”
Altman also commended the film “Social Network” in his tweet for motivating company founders. Interestingly, Elon Musk, the well-known businessman and head of Twitter, joined in and concurred with Altman’s stance, merely replying “Indeed.”
While some people expressed agreement with Altman and Musk’s ideas, others disagreed, criticising ChatGPT and AI while also bringing up the film “Social Network” and its portrayal of inventiveness and ambition.
However, the UI Oppenheimer biopic earned excellent reviews from critics who commended its amazing visual presentation, masterful execution, emotional nuance, and examination of human ambition.
While the movie may not have met Altman’s expectations of inspiring future physicists, its impact on audiences and discussions surrounding science and technology remains significant. The diverse opinions and reactions only serve to highlight the complexity and subjectivity of artistic interpretation.
