Bengaluru: “People are not allowed to walk on footpaths on most of the roads in Bengaluru. Therefore, necessary steps will be taken to ensure smooth pedestrian walk on the footpath along with protecting the interests of street vendors,” said DCM DK Shivakumar.
Responding to questions from the media near Gnanabharati Hall on July 31, he said, “There is a lot of pressure to vacate the street vendors. I have personally checked. Many places have no roads. We are not against street vendors, and we do not intend to trouble them. They also have to live life. But the footpath should not be encroached, so that the people can walk easily. He said that there is no objection if the pedestrian’s way is clear.”
Also, don’t people need space to move around? People have to walk on the pavement, traders have to live. Many have come and complained about this issue. I have instructed the authorities to take action for the welfare of both, he said.
When asked about the Supreme Court’s upholding of the stay order issued by the High Court for the trial of the case registered by the CBI against him, he said, “I have not got any information on the notice of the verdict. I have respect and faith in the judicial system of the country. There is a belief that injustice does not happen from the position of giving justice. Whatever false case is made against me, I will get justice in court. One day I will explain to the people of the state about this false case. Now we will not talk about that issue,” he responded.
When asked about Rahul Gandhi calling the state leaders to Delhi, he said, “This meeting was supposed to be held when Rahul Gandhi came to Bengaluru, on the same day Oommen Chandy passed away. That’s why the meeting was cancelled. The state Government has already implemented 4 guarantees, on how to promote them. And in the coming days, they will discuss how to take up plans that are pro people. Lok Sabha elections are ahead, and senior leaders need to be given responsibility. We have to prepare immediately as to how the selection of candidates should be. Everyone should work together. He will give some advice and instructions for this,” DCM said.
When asked whether a committee will be formed to achieve reconciliation between the Government and the party, he said, “Are we not there to achieve reconciliation? I am both the Government and the party. Similarly, the Chief Minister is also a party and the Government. So why a coordination committee when we are there? We will solve all the problems ourselves.”
When told that the corporation officials are not responding to the media about the Bengaluru problems, he said, “Let the officials talk about the problem. But they can’t talk about policy making. The policy issue is related to the Government. How can they speak? We have instructed them to solve the problems of the people locally,” he said.
When asked if there is discontentment among the MLAs in the party, he said, ‘There is no discontent, it is all rumours.”
