Bengaluru: The National Highways Authority has come forward to curb the accident cases on Bangalore-Mysore Express Highway. From today, certain vehicles including two-wheelers and three-wheelers have been restricted on the express highway. Bikes, autos and tractors have been allowed to ply only on service roads from today, and if they violate the rules, they will be penalised with fines.
The Highways Authority has issued new rules to reduce the number of accident cases on Dashpath Highway. From today, some vehicles including two-wheelers and three-wheelers are restricted on the Dashpath highway. This decision was taken by the Highways Authority after collecting reports on the increase in the number of accidents involving bikes and three-wheelers.
A fine of Rs. 500 will be imposed if the traffic is violated on the highway. The insurance is not applicable in case of an accident involving restricted vehicles plying on the highway. Police will also conduct inspection at 9 entry and exit points in Ramanagara area. The new rule has been implemented under the National Highway Regulation Act, 2002. There is a speed limit for the vehicles plying on the expressway. The speed limit is fixed at 80 to 100 km per hour. There is lane discipline, seat belt, speed limit rules. Police will conduct strict checks on drunk and driving.
