Mangaluru/Udupi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed the issue of sea erosion in the coast during his visit to Padubidri, Udupi district. He assured that a comprehensive action plan would be prepared by the concerned department to tackle this problem effectively.
Discussions are underway with officials to determine the budget requirements for executing a permanent solution to prevent sea erosion. Once finalised, the necessary funds will be allocated accordingly. Works have already commenced in some areas to combat sea erosion, and in other locations, they will begin soon, he said.
Regarding the implementation of the Kantharaju Commission’s socio-economic survey report (Caste Census), CM Siddaramaiah acknowledged that there were technical issues that delayed its submission. However, he assured that once the report is submitted, appropriate action will be taken. He also said that the Finance Department will be directed to address pending salary issues and other matters concerning the Government of Karnataka’s Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdulla Mother and Child Hospital in Udupi.
In light of the heavy rainfall in Udupi District, CM Siddaramaiah expressed concern over the estimated loss of Rs. 35 Crore this year. Officials have been instructed to tackle the problems arising from rain-related damages.
When asked about BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel’s derogatory remarks calling the state Government ‘Jihadi’ and ‘Tuglaq Sarkar,’ CM Siddaramaiah dismissed Kateel’s comments, referring to him as a clown and added that he wouldn’t attach much importance to such statements.
