Udupi: Sharan Pumpwell, the State Secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP), has called for a comprehensive investigation into an alleged voyeurism case at a paramedical college in Udupi.
Addressing a gathering during a protest organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Pumpwell raised concerns about the incident involving three Muslim girls who purportedly recorded videos of Hindu girls in the college washroom. Additionally, the police reportedly seized a mobile phone containing a compromising photo of another girl. Pumpwell emphasised the need for a thorough and unbiased investigation into the matter.
According to Pumpwell, this alleged voyeurism incident is not an isolated occurrence at the college, as he cited previous instances of inappropriate behavior by the same three Muslim girls. He criticised the College Administrator, Abdul Khader, for what he perceived as an initial attempt to downplay the incident with minimal punishment for the accused girls. Pumpwell called for immediate action, urging Khader’s dismissal from his position in the educational institution.
Furthermore, Pumpwell expressed his belief that the parents of the accused girls, who are allegedly associated with the banned outfit PFI, should be questioned as part of the investigation. He went on to advocate for the case to be transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a thorough and impartial inquiry.
The VHP-organised protest witnessed approximately 4,000 participants marching from Jodu Katte to the Car Parking Area of Sri Krishna Matha. Various leaders from Hindu organisations, including Sunil K. R., Kishore, and Vishnumurti Acharya, were present at the demonstration. Several MLAs, including Yashpal Suvarna and Sunil Kumar, also joined in solidarity with the protestors.
