Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and Bangalore Urban Development Minister D. K. Shivakumar visited the Dr. Shivaram Karanth Layout and inspected the work in progress and gave some suggestions and modifications.
Giving compensation on priority basis to farmers/land owners who have given land in Shivram Karanth Layout. He suggested to provide opportunities for commercial activities along with residential development in this layout. About 45 acres of land reserved for park, civic facilities and stadium should be widened to facilitate commercial activities and he suggested that land should be used for commercial purposes without allocating 45 metres of land near the road.
He also inspected the peripheral ring road passing through this layout. He ordered to earmark space for an IT hub near the Layout.
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar ordered BBMP officials to arrange four entry and exit gates for Bellahalli and Mitaganahalki solid waste disposal units. He visited the Bellahalli and Mitaganahalli garbage disposal units on August 12 afternoon and noticed that hundreds of garbage lorries were lined up. Also noted that this unit, spread over an area of about 55 acres, has only one entry and exit point.
It is not right for lorries to line up like this. This is a waste of both time and money, he said and immediately ordered the officials to arrange four gates. Besides, it is not right that the lorries are waiting for seven and a half hours now. He suggested that garbage should be disposed of within two hours of arrival and arrangements for exit should be made. He checked the information about the arrival of lorries and garbage disposal at the entry point.
