Udupi: Coordinated by Eco-Advocate Mahesh Shenoy, a group of enthusiasts is initiating the ‘Miracle Forest Challenge’ campaign. This endeavour aims to establish 500 Miyawaki forests nationwide during its initial phase. Individuals keen on participation can enroll via the Facebook page ‘@MiracleForestChallenge’. An online training session is slated for August 27.
Shenoy conveyed that his motivation arose from his successful cultivation of a Miyawaki forest in his backyard four years ago, driving his ambition to train others and stimulate the creation of similar forests.
Mahesh Shenoy, who has been conducting the ‘Miracle Morning Session’ to cultivate early rising routines for more than two and a half years, is now pivoting towards augmenting urban greenery. His plan includes delivering training on crafting Miyawaki Forests, which demand limited land (one or two cents) yet yield robust growth within a brief period. The upcoming session on August 27, scheduled from 10.00 am to 11.30 am, will be inaugurated virtually by Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji of Sri Pejawara Matha, Udupi. The event will be conducted in Kannada, followed by an English session in September.
To engage in the Kannada or English sessions, interested participants are encouraged to fill out the online registration form accessible on the ‘@MiracleForestChallenge’ Facebook page. After the online training, Shenoy intends to expand these sessions to educational institutions. Offering support in organising the training sessions are fellow environmental activists Manoj Kadaba, Muradhidhar H. S., Kantharaj Sagar, Mohammed Mustafa, and Premananda Kalmady.
