Bengaluru: The Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Urban Development Minister D. K. Shivakumar inspected various development works under the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike South Zone on August 19.
Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister D. K. Shivakumar said that the pending work on the elevated corridor from Ejipura Signal to Central Sadan Junction will be started immediately and completed quickly with the aim of reducing traffic congestion on the Koramangala 100 feet main road.
The foundation stone for the construction of the 2.951 km long flyover was laid in 2017, 29% of the work has been completed and the work is currently at a standstill. The company that was constructing the flyover has been terminated due to the fact that work has been stopped, he said and added that a new tender has been called now.
The four-lane flyover will cost about Rs. 300 Crore for the flyover work. The flyover will pass through Sadan Junction and Sony World Junction in Kendriya. Roads connecting Tavarekare, M. G. Road, Hosur Road, Agra, BTM Layout, Koramangala, BDA Complex, Sarjapur Main Road and Vivek Nagar pass through Kendriya Sadan Junction. Connecting roads to Indiranagar, Kendriya Sadan, Vivek Nagar, Jakkasandra pass through Sony World Junction. Due to the construction of the flyover, the vehicular traffic will be reduced by 39.69% in this section and at least 30 minutes of time will be saved. If the flyover work is completed quickly, the traffic in this area will be almost reduced and the motorists will get relief from the traffic, DyCM said.
There are 7 junctions in the elevated corridor from Ejipura Main Road- Inner Ring Road Junction, Sony World Junction, Central House Junction, Koramangala 8th Main Road Junction, Koramangala 60ft Road Junction, Koramangala Fifth Block 1A Cross Road Junction and Koramangala BDA Junction. There will be more traffic congestion near Banashankari bus stand due to vehicular traffic from 6 directions. In order to relieve the traffic congestion, a plan has been drawn up for the construction of a pedestrian flyover and a 2.5 km long flyover around the junction of the bus stand, he said.
He instructed the officials to come up with a plan again and give the final design to ease the traffic congestion. The road development work is in progress by Smart City at Gandhi Bazaar, and after seeing the said work, DyCM listened to the problems of the traders and locals. A lot of the work is unscientific and the road width has been reduced, he said.
He requested to expand it as before and plan it in a proper manner and complete the work at the earliest in order to benefit everyone without causing problems to anyone.
Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar assured the traders and locals that the road will be diverted for the benefit of the hawkers and if there are any changes, they will submit applications, discuss with the local current and former MLAs and take necessary action as per law.
