Hyderabad: In politics, when leaders of different parties meet and shake hands, it is unlikely that it is just a formality. The reason why Andhra CM’s sister Sharmila (Y. S. Sharmila) shook hands with D. K. Shivakumar when the Congress Government was formed in the state is now coming out.
It is a well-known fact that Shivakumar is wooing those who were once trapped in Operation Kamala and slipped into the BJP fold, however, DKS has extended his arms as far as Telangana. As soon as the Congress Government was formed in Karnataka, Y. S. Sharmila met D. K. Shivakumar and shook hands. Some understanding was already made. That’s becoming a reality now.
Surprisingly, this must be believed because Jagan Mohan Reddy is strong opponent of Congress where as his sister Sharmila has made up her mind to join the Congress. D. K..Shivakumar is behind this.
In Telangana, the K. Chandrashekhar Rao-led BRS party is very strong. It is difficult to defeat the BRS alone. Sharmila, however, reckons that joining hands with the Congress will make the job easier. On August 18, a round of discussions was held with Venugopal and Sharmila has asked for eight seats.
The Congress has assured it will give three seats. So bargaining is going on. On the other hand, they will not interfere in Andhra politics.
She also escaped her brother’s wrath by saying that she would work only in Telangana. If all goes well, YSR Congress is expected to merge with Telangana and Congress in August.
