Bengaluru: The Department of Transport has taken an important decision regarding the implementation of uniform registration number plate for vehicles in the country and has ordered that the vehicles registered before April 1, 2019 should be fitted with High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) by November 17.
As per the guidelines of the central Government, the adoption of HSRP is mandatory for vehicles registered before April 1, 2019. The Transport Department, which has not yet implemented it, has now issued an order in this regard. Vehicles are advised to adopt HSRP by November 17. It has also been warned that if HSRP is not adopted within the specified period, a fine of Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 will be imposed on the vehicles.
It is a number plate with a permanent identification number. This number plate is designed to include many features including a hologram. These number plates cannot be tampered with. It helps in verifying the documents as it is a uniform number plate. It is not possible to get the same number plate for two vehicles.
Two-wheelers will have a separate code, while three-wheelers and solid vehicles will be fitted with a digital sticker. This sticker will contain the details of the owner including engine number, chassis number, vehicle model, registration number. About two crore vehicles were registered before April 1, 2019. Automakers have already tied up with HSRP manufacturers and older vehicle owners can order these number plates with authorised dealers.
