Bengaluru: Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan has instructed officials to immediately start the process of identifying land for the proposed township and villa project to be developed by the Karnataka Housing Board.
Speaking at a progress review meeting of the Housing Board here on August 30, he said that the process of identifying land for the villa project on four out of 500 acres and a township on 2,000 acres each at five places in the capital should be initiated. A special team of officials will be constituted for the same.
The township and villa projects are yet to be completed in a time-bound manner. Therefore, he instructed them to work on the formation of a separate division. The land will be identified on a 50:50 basis in four parts of the capital where transport and other basic amenities, including the metro, are available. The construction of the layout should be expedited by agreeing with the landowners.
The housing board is planning to construct plots or houses at concessional rates for BPL families in places other than Bengaluru city. He also directed them to study the pros and cons and submit a report.
“Prepare a proposal to see if we can take land from the government and develop the layout or develop the layout under a 50:50 agreement with the owners and provide shelter to the poor families. I will discuss it with the chief minister,” said Zameer Ahmed Khan.
The Minister also directed the officials to convene a mediation meeting with the petitioners on the lines of adults to settle 122 disputes pending in the court, including land acquisition. He asked them to submit a comprehensive report on the housing board schemes being implemented in the state, their status, available land, and cases pending in the court.
He also took stock of the status of Rajiv Gandhi’s housing corporation schemes.
