Mangaluru: In a bid to combat drug-related activities and create a “Drugs Free Mangalore,” the Mangalore Central Crime Branch (CCB) Police recently conducted a successful operation, apprehending a significant drug peddler involved in the sale and trafficking of MDMA, a synthetic drug.
The CCB Police in Mangaluru had been diligently tracking down key drug peddlers operating within the city. During their investigations, they uncovered a substantial cache of MDMA drugs worth lakhy. Determined to identify the mastermind behind this illicit trade, a thorough investigation was launched, leading to crucial intelligence.
Based on information received about a foreign national, a Nigerian woman currently residing in Bengaluru, who was suspected of being linked to the drug trade, the Mangaluru CCB Police swiftly moved into action. In a well-executed raid, they discovered MDMA (Methylene dioxy methamphetamine), a banned substance.
The arrested individual has been identified as ADEWOLE ADETUTU AANU, who also goes by the aliases REGINA ZARA and AYISHA. She is 33 years old, with her father’s name listed as Adewole Mogaji. Her previous residence is documented as No. 8, Old Sijuade Road, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. At the time of her arrest, she was residing at Room No. 007, Ground Floor, G. P. North Avenue Apartment, Chokkana Halli Main Road, Jakkuru Post, Yalahanka Hobli, Bengaluru.
During the operation, law enforcement authorities apprehended the suspect in Bangalore and seized a total of 400 grams of MDMA, with an estimated value of 20,00,000/- INR. Additionally, an iPhone and 2910/- INR in cash were confiscated, resulting in a total value of seized assets reaching 20,52,910/- INR.
It has been revealed that the arrested individual is a citizen of Nigeria who entered India on a student visa. She pursued her studies and subsequently worked as a nurse in the country for a period. Presently, she faces charges in seven separate cases registered at Ullala, Sen Police Station, Mangalore North, Kankanadi, Konaje, and Surathkal Police Stations within Mangalore City. The accused, involved in these seven cases, had reportedly procured drugs from her. Following her arrest, the accused has been presented before the court, and judicial custody has been ordered.
