Bengaluru: Housing, Minorities Welfare, and Vijayanagar District Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan directed the speedy implementation of an action plan to develop mine-affected areas.
Chairing a meeting with the officials of the Mining Environment Rehabilitation Corporation in the auditorium of the Slum Development Board here on Monday, he said an action plan for Rs 1193 crore had already been prepared. All the work in this regard must be implemented at the earliest. Since the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation which comes under the Housing Department, has been appointed as the nodal agency for the implementation of rehabilitation works in the mine-affected districts, Vijayanagar, Ballari, Chitradurga and the Tumkur, there must not be any delay further.
The minister collected details of the funds available for the development of mine-affected areas and district-level DMF fund and said he would visit all four districts on October 10 and 11, 16th and 17th. Officials concerned must furnish details about the action plan for the development of all the infrastructure except Housing; and also about demand in rural and urban areas. Proposals must be sought from the deputy commissioners and chief executive officers of all four districts immediately. So far, Rs 23,000 crore has been collected under the Mine-Affected Areas Development Fund till 2018. The Minister also collected information about the collection between 2018 and 2023.
