Bengaluru: Gangadhar, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party’s state advocates unit, alleged that the local election officials were acting in favour of the BJP and showing a nepotistic attitude towards the Aam Aadmi Party.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s state office, Gangadhar said, “BJP candidates are giving trouble to Aam Aadmi Party candidates. Besides, election officials are also discriminating. Election officials are not responding to the complaints made by AAP leaders. The Election Commission should take this seriously and allow a fair election,” he demanded.
“ROs in Bangalore’s Gandhinagar, Bangalore South, Mahalakshmi Layout, Rajarajeshwarinagar constituencies are harassing AAP by issuing notices. They are also objecting for door-to-door campaigning. How to promote if door-to-door campaigning is not allowed? They are saying that permission should be taken 48 hours in advance for door-to-door campaigning. This is practically not possible in cities like Bengaluru. Electoral officials are also objecting to posting non-promotional posts on personal social media accounts,” Gangadhar lamented.
“The Aam Aadmi Party workers were holding a peaceful street meeting in Toladinne Village of Surpur Assembly constituency in Yadgiri District. The BJP workers who arrived there beat us up. Despite lodging complaints about this, we don’t know what action is taken the Election Commission and police. It is not right for officers and police to work for the ruling party,” said Gangadhar.
“Famous Actor Sudeep had said that he would canvass only for CM Basavaraj Bommai. Sudeep’s name is not in the list of official star promoters. However, on April 26, Sudeep campaigned for BJP’s Tippeswamy from Molakalmuru constituency.bHe traveled by helicopter and drove around in luxury cars. All this will cost at least Rs. 15 to 40 lakh. Where is the money coming from for all this expenses and to whose account does the Election Commission add these expenses to?,” Gangadhar asked.
Nanjappa Kalegowda, President of Aam Aadmi Party’s state advocate wing and Anjana Gowda, candidate for Govindarajanagar constituency, participated in the press conference.
