Bengaluru: Congress government’s Gruha Jyoti scheme to provide free electricity has failed. Gruha Jyoti became Grahana Jyoti now, Aam Aadmi Party state Organizing Secretary B T Naganna criticised the state government.
On Wednesday at the party office in the city, AAP’s B T Naganna released a placard saying that the Congress, which had promised free electricity before the elections, has put the farmers of the state in trouble for the Gruha Jyoti scheme. Farmers’ pumpsets were earlier supplied with power for 7 hours, now even for 2 hours they are not getting proper power supply.
In Delhi, 200 units of electricity are being provided free of charge as promised by us. The model adopted by Delhi, wherein power outages lead to substantial penalties on power distribution companies and compensation to consumers, serves as a commendable benchmark. There, consumers are compensated between 50-100 Rupees per hour during unplanned outages, He explained.
All the five electricity supply companies of the state, including BESCOM, are already in debt of Rs 63,000 crore. At this time, the Chief Minister has already instructed the Finance Department to take a loan of Rs 85,000 crore. This is witnessing the state is running towards patala, he said.
The government, which is giving Rs 6000 crores of electricity subsidy every year to the farmers of the state, is unnecessarily wasting thousands of crores of subsidy money by not distributing solar pumps to all the farmers, this is the state government’s irresponsibility, he accused.
Improper use of Kusum scheme
AAP state vice president Suresh Rathod said, The state government has failed to adequately utilise the central government’s Kusum scheme. 10314 solar pumps have been given to the state by the centre but only 314 solar pumps have been given to the farmers of the state.
Bhagwant Khooba of our state is in the union cabinet, but what is his contribution to the state?, He asked.Farmers are not adopting solar pumps due to lack of proper information. ESCOM staff are not giving adequate information to the farmers about this, he said.
Electricity is being purchased from other states at Rs 5.56 per unit. The government itself said in its gazette that we can generate 1.52 lakh megawatt of solar electricity required by the state, But only 8 thousand megawatt is being produced in the state. There is also corruption in the purchase of electricity, he accused.
He demanded the state government should immediately issue an affidavit that it will provide free electricity in the state for the next 4.5 years and there will be no variation in electricity supply. What plans have been made to become self-sufficient in power generation should be mentioned.
