Bengaluru: The Kharge father son duo of Congress party has stood proof for the age old idiom, ‘Like father, like son’. A few days ago, the Prime Minister of India was called a “poisonous snake” by Mallikarjun Kharge. His son, Priyank Kharge has called the PM a “naalaayak beta” in Kalaburagi on May 1.
Now, a letter has been written by Union Minister of State and the Convenor of Election Management Committee, Shobha Karandlaje. The letter is addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka Election Commission seeking action against Junior Kharge for the “naalaayak beta” comment.
The letter mentioned that Priyank Kharge made a personal attack on PM Modi by using “vulgar and tarnishing language”. Karandlaje also mentioned in the letter that personal attack is not permissible under the model code of conduct.
In a visit to Kalaburagi sometime ago, Prime Minister Modi said to people of Banjara community that he is a son of the Banjara people who is sitting in Delhi.
In this context, the letter quoted Priyank saying, “Recently you told the Banjara community that don’t worry, a son of Banjara is sitting in Delhi. What to do with such a nalayak beta? How do we run the household with such a nalayak beta?”
Karandlaje stated in the letter, “The word naalayak means a totally useless person or unworthy, however our Prime Minister has done marvellous work for the nation and entire India is proud of his achievements as PM of the country. There is no truthfulness in the statement of Mr. Kharge junior.”
The letter also claimed that Priyank Kharge’s comments are liable to be penalised under Sections 499, 500 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code. The letter concluded by requesting the Chief Electoral Officer to take stringent action against Priyank Kharge and restrain him from campaigning in the upcoming Karnataka elections.
