Mangaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 3 accused the Congress of supporting anti-nationals and using Karnataka as their Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
Modi was speaking at a public meeting in Dakshina Kannada’s Mulki seeking votes for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Assembly elections on May 10. “The Congress wants to make Karnataka the number one ATM of its ‘royal family’ sitting in Delhi. The Congress, which takes 80 per cent commission in all the projects, will take back Karnataka by decades.
BJP’s resolution is to make Karnataka number one, to build modern infrastructure and to make the state a manufacturing superpower. This is our roadmap for the next few years. On the other hand, the Congress is seeking votes as one of its leaders is retiring. Wherever I go, it is clear, ‘E bariya nirdhara bahumatada BJP sarkara’ (this time, it is the majority BJP government).,” he asserted.
Prime Minister commended the state for being toppers in the education and health sectors. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are known for having toppers in the education sector. You know what it means to make Karnataka number one. Our vision is to make Karnataka number one in fisheries and ports and agricultural development. BJP wants to make Karnataka the number one in all sectors of development, he said.
Launching a sharp attack on the Congress for supporting “anti-nationals”, the Prime Minister said, “Congress opposes peace and development in Karnataka. The people who want progress will first kick out Congress from their state. Congress immediately comes to the aid of those who get arrested for conspiring to spread terror in Karnataka. Isn’t this the truth? Doesn’t Congress save these people? The ‘reverse-geared’ Congress not only dismisses cases against these anti-nationals but also releases them. They also seek electoral help from these anti-nationals.”
Prime Minister was accompanied by BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel, Union Minister and BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje and party candidates from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi for the state polls.
Several thousand supporters of the BJP and the Prime Minister from the twin districts Dakshina Kannada and Udupi had gathered in Mulki.
