Bengaluru: Voting has started in Karnataka elections especially in Bengaluru in the morning, as many people are queuing up to vote. Every time, Bengaluru city recorded a low voter turnout. So this time the political parties and the Election Commission made an effort to increase the number of votes.
At 7.00 am people queued up to cast their votes. The 2018 election was held on May 12. As it was a weekend, there was a low turnout. But this time as it is being held on Wednesday, it is expected that there will be more voting.
Residents of the city are coming to the polling station in large numbers as there is a possibility of rain in the afternoon.
The Election Commission has not given permission to take mobile phones inside the polling booth. In some places, the police have given permission to switch off and take away. There has been an incident where some people were upset about the mobile issue.
District Returning Officer and BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath queued up to cast his vote at Jakkur polling station in Byatarayanpur Assembly constituency.
Actor Prakash Raj arrived at a polling booth in St. Joseph’s School in Shantinagar, Bengaluru to cast his vote for Karnataka Assembly elections. He said, “We have to vote against communal politics. We need Karnataka to be beautiful,” added Actor Prakash Raj after casting his vote for Assembly election.
Former Education Minister Suresh Kumar has appealed to come and vote in the first period in view of the forecast of rain. Speaking to reporters after voting in R. R. Nagar, he said that there is information about the decrease in voting in Bengaluru. So he called for more voting in Bengaluru.
Suresh Kumar’s mother Sushilamma said, “This is my last vote.” Feeling emotional about her son, she said that she has voted for his son and said that she has been voting since 1952.
He appealed to come and vote in the first period in view of the forecast of rain. This time the election has gained importance. Earlier I used to vote with my mother. Then wife and daughter are involved in voting, he said and added that he always participates in voting with his family.
Sudha Murthy couple stood in the queue and voted
In the wake of the Karnataka Assembly elections, Infosys Chief Narayan Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy cast their votes. Sudha Murthy and Narayana Murthy couple voted in Jayanagara. At this time, Sudha Murthy spoke to the gathered people for sometime. At this time, many people took selfies with Sudha Murthy. Later she said that if there has to be a change in Democracy then voting is necessary. Only those without patriotism will miss voting. Young people, learn from us and everyone vote, she said. She requested to exercise the right.
Karnataka election which is considered as the biggest festival of Democracy is going on from morning May 10. Voting began at 7.00 am in 224 constituencies of the state.
