Bengaluru: This time also the Bengaluru city remained in the last position in terms of voter turnout. In Bengaluru, which has the highest number of employees, almost half of the people did not vote at all.
The total voter turnout is 54.5 percent in the four divisions of Bengaluru city. Out of this, 56.98% in Bengaluru City District, 52.88% in BBMP North District, 55.39% in BBMP Central District and 52.80% in BBMP South District. Compared to the last time, BBMP polled slightly higher in the South and Central and lower in the North. The last time voting was held in Bengaluru City District.
Sir C. V. Ramannagar Assembly Constituency of Bengaluru has the lowest voter turnout in the state. Only 47 percent voting took place here. Voter turnout in three constituencies is less than 50%. Most of the lowest polling constituencies in Karnataka are in Bengaluru.
97 lakh voters in the capital
The Election Commission’s expectation and calculation that the voter turnout will increase this time in Bengaluru Metropolis, which has 97 lakh voters, has been turned upside down. If polling is scheduled during the weekend, voters will not come and the voting rate will decrease like in the previous elections. However, it did not bear fruit.
Early on May 10 morning there was an indication that the polling would increase, but in the afternoon, the polling again looked dismal. This is a testimony to the continued indifference and neglect of Bengaluru towards voting. Even though the Prime Minister conducted a 37.8 km roadshow in three phases in the city, there was no enthusiasm among the voters.
