Knight Frank, a real estate consulting firm, has conducted a survey of major roads in various cities in the country, out of which M. G. Road in Bengaluru is said to be No. 1. This was mentioned in the report “Think India, Think Retail 2023 – High Street Real Estate Outlook”.
Knight Frank India said that more than 30 commercial roads of 9 major cities of the country including Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai were surveyed.
Some criteria were adopted in the survey conducted by Knight Frank. Are there public transport systems close to major roads, how many there are and how well they are being used. The survey was conducted keeping in view criteria such as whether there is a parking system on major roads, and whether commercial frontages on these major roads are clearly visible to the public. Against this backdrop, four roads in Bengaluru have won the top spots.
Also, under the criteria of which major commercial roads are easily connected to other major roads, M. G. Road is in the top position in Bengaluru, the report said. This road connects several major roads including Brigade Road, and Residency Road.
Somajiguda (Hyderabad), Colaba Causeway (Mumbai), Annanagar (Chennai), Pak Street (Kolkata), Commac Street (Kolkata) roads, Bengaluru’s M. G. Road appeared in the later positions of the best roads, the survey said.
According to Divya Agarwal, Vice President of Knight Frank India, commercial roads in most cities of the country, proximity to public transport facilities, parking facilities on those roads and shops on those roads are visible to the public – all this proves that the road has been built with appropriate planning.
“Proper planning ensures that those roads are well-maintained. Thus, four roads of Bengaluru have appeared at the top position. Also, Delhi’s Khan Market and DLF Galleria roads, which have not been properly planned, have got the last two positions in the survey,” said Divya Agarwal.
