Mangaluru: The Police apprehended three youngsters after they were found on the grounds of Kadri Manjunatha Temple in Mangaluru after they took their motorcycle on to the temple premises. In response to this incident, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) lodged a request with the Deputy Commissioner and the Police Commissioner, urging them to provide security for the Temple.
The trio was then captured on video trying to explain how they got there. The individuals involved in the incident have been identified as Hasan Shahin (19), Mohammad Zafar (18), and Umar Farooque (21).
According to the account provided by the trio, they stated that they were on a journey from Assaigoli near Mangaluru University to Katipalla near Surathkal area on May 11 evening. They explained that they had been relying on Google Maps for navigation and unintentionally deviated from their route, leading them to arrive at the temple premises by mistake.
As reported by local residents, the trio rode their motorcycle directly into the temple premises and were observed walking around in the courtyard while wearing slippers. The locals questioned the trio about their presence at the location. However, the locals stated that the trio failed to provide satisfactory explanations.
Subsequently, the locals notified the police about the suspicious entry of the trio into the temple premises and handed them over to the authorities. Police sources confirmed that they were alerted by the locals regarding the incident, leading to the registration of a case against all three youth involved.
Last year, intelligence agencies revealed that the cooker bomber, Mohammad Sharique had devised a plan to carry out an explosion in the Temple. VHP, the right wing outfit has expressed its concern to the police regarding this recent incident and submitted a written letter about the same.
The VHP has asserted that this occurrence could potentially be another plot, drawing attention to the previous incident involving Mohammad Sharique. They have called for a thorough investigation into the matter and have urged for enhanced security measures to be implemented at the Kadri Temple.
