Bengaluru: The election results this time was surprising to say the least in the history of state politics, with Congress on its way to winning the highest number of seats in three decades. Congress was in power after 1999 and 2013 elections.
In 1999 elections, Congress won in 132 constituencies. BJP had won in 44 constituencies. JD (S) and JD(U) together won 28 seats. In 2013 elections, Congress won in 122 constituencies. BJP had won 40 constituencies and JD (S) had won 40 constituencies.
This time the Congress is currently leading in 130 plus seats. Now the party leaders are curious whether it will win more than 132 seats and write a record.
Even the pre-election polls, polling booth polls (exit polls) did not predict that the Congress would get this huge a victory. All the calculations that hung Assembly will be formed this time too have been turned upside down. Congress is celebrating its victory after getting a clear majority.
Here are 5 reasons for Congress victory
1. The anti- incumbency wave of the ruling BJP in the state was correctly understood and worked to promote it.
2. The mantra of unity has been chanted since the beginning. Similarly, the election was faced with unity without any confusion.
3. Announced guaranteed plans in advance. Worked to deliver it door to door. Also, BJP’s failure to implement such schemes got voters convinced.
4. Preparations for the elections started much earlier and candidates were announced earlier. Surveys were conducted many times and tickets were given to the most qualified candidates.
5. ‘Soft Hindutva’ policy followed to reverse the Hindutva wave. Along with this, it has succeeded in following many strategies to attract Lingayat voters.
