Bengaluru: It is said that Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood’s name is in the selection list for the top post of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
A committee comprising the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha has selected three senior IPS officers for the top post of the Central Bureau of Investigation. Sources said the names were shortlisted after a high-level committee meeting on May 13 evening.
Praveen Sood (DGP Karnataka), Sudhir Saxena (DGP Madhya Pradesh) and Taj Haasan are now said to be in the list to become the next CBI Director. CBI Director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal’s two-year term will end on May 25.
Praveen Sood, a 1986-batch IPS Officer of the state cadre, is the frontrunner for the post. DGP Praveen Sood is working on behalf of the ruling BJP Government and is protecting them. They are filing a case against our party leaders. Praveen Sood is of no use. KPCC President D. K. Shivakumar had criticised that a case should be registered against him immediately and he should be arrested.
A committee comprising the Prime Minister, the CJI and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha selects the CBI Director for a two-year term. Tenure can be extended to five years.
