Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lost Karnataka, such a huge state and BJP’s gateway to South. It is really shocking for anyone to digest that BJP has lost in its stronghold despite offering several programmes for its non-vote bank also. Still it was defeated very heinously.
Some political analysts say real factor for BJP defeat is Lingayats. Due to reservation aspect and upset over ticket distribution among the Lingayat leader today BJP has faced the defeat. But when we look into the actual scenario it reveals something else.
The Congress had fielded 46 Lingayat leaders among whom 37 are elected, where as BJP had fielded 61 Lingayat candidates and only 11 have been elected. So question arises as to what was BJP’s mistake BJP as far as in Lingayat factor is concerned?
It fielded highest number of candidates from Lingayat community, yet the Lingayat voters dis not show their love towards BJP party. Given this scenario, did Lingayats expect something else?
May be, yes. They are not ready to accept the new faces, even if they are from their own community.
But on the other hand Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar was defeated irrespective of caste and party. It is because the Hubballi-Dharawad people wanted change.
At the end of the day, BJP has failed by introducing new faces in wrong places. This is a testimony to the fact that politicians many a times fail to read the mind of the voters.
