Bengaluru: Two youth have been arrested by the Banasawadi Police on the charge of setting fire to the two-wheeler in the premises of the house of Anil Reddy, son of the BJP candidate for Sarvagnanagar Assembly constituency, Padmanabha Reddy’s brother.
The accused Mubarak and Hafeez, residents of K. G. Halli, were arrested. The accused were working in a chicken shop on Tannery Road. According to the officials, a case was filed against both, on May 13 afternoon, who entered the premises of Anil Reddy’s house in Kacharakanahalli and set fire to his two-wheeler.
The accused entered the premises of Anil Reddy’s house in Kacharakanahalli and was stealing petrol from a two-wheeler. They used to fill petrol in plastic bottles. At the same time, one of the accused was about to smoke a cigarette. On seeing both of them, the locals shouted loudly and tried to catch them. The accused, who were scared, threw petrol and cigarettes on the spot and ran away. Officials said that the two-wheeler caught fire due to the lit cigarette and the petrol and got burnt.
In the wake of the incident, these two accused deliberately attacked the house and set it on fire. It may be recalled here that the BJP workers alleged that this was the act of Congress workers.
