Bengaluru: Finally, election frenzy is done and new Government has been formed in Karnataka. On May 20, Congress party leaders took oath, and new Cabinet has been set up. Now a row on non-usage of Kannada language has risen.
Yes, on May 20, 8 MLAs took oath and among them Chamarajpete MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan took his oath in English, which has left Pro-Kannada activists irked.
This is not the first time that Zameer Ahmed Khan has taken oath in English. In 2005 too, he took oath in English and apologised for the same. On the occasio he had said that he was extremely sorry for speaking in English and that he could not sleep the whole night after that incident. He also had stated that as he has done his schooling in a convent, neither his Kannada, English nor Urdu is flawless.
The video of Zameer Ahmed Khan has gone viral on social media and many have commented for an against him.
Most of the nettizens commented that even after 18 years as he not learnt Kannada? Further more, he has been elected by the people of Karnataka, they observed.
Also, some others who stood by him commented as to what was wrong in the same, after all it is a language. And that the criticism should be issue-based and person-based.
Any how there is a for and against for every single issue. And the people criticise people’s representatives commonly and it should be taken sportively. Now, let’s wait and watch how will the MLA take the issue and also let us also focus on what he does for the good of the state and his constituency.
