Bengaluru: Soon after Congress came to power all the public and Opposition parties are urging for the implementation of guarantee schemes which the Congress promised in its Manifesto. Amid this Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has to face challenge of weavers too.
Before the election, during the campaign CM Siddu promised the weavers of providing free electricity for powerlooms. And also to provide loans to weavers with free of interest up to Rs. 3 Lakh unlike farmers. Now Congress has come to power and Siddaramaiah has became the Chief Minister and hence the weavers’ community are demanding for the fulfilment of promises.
Karnataka State Weavers’ Organisation is now demanding that atleast free electricity to powerlooms upto 10 hp, loan waiver and interest free loans be provided. For the same, they have asked for an appointment to meet CM Siddu. However, as he is busy in Cabinet expansion he has given an appointment for the next week only.
When the weavers had met Siddu when he was Opposition leader, he had urged to not support BJP Government, and he will ensure that all their demands will be fulfilled once he comes to power.
On May 2 during Prajadhwani Yatra at Bagalakote Siddu had announced that if Congress Government came to power it will provide free electricity to the powerlooms. So the expectation has been raised among weavers on provision free electricity.
