Bengaluru: In a major reshuffle in the Police Department from the Congress Government, B. Dayananda has been appointed as the Commissioner of Police, Bangalore City on May 30. The state Government has ordered the transfer of the present Bengaluru Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy as Internal Security DGP. Now Bangalore City’s ‘Special Commissioner’ (Traffic) M. A. Salim has been transferred as CID DG.
The state Government on May 30 issued transfer order of 4 senior IPS officials.
Dayananda was serving as ADGP, Intelligence. M. A. Salim promoted as Director General of Police and posted to CID.
Pratap Reddy, who was appointed as Commissioner of Police just last year (2022), was promoted to the post of Director General of Police at the beginning of this year (2023) and continued as city Police Chief. However, now Pratap Reddy has been transferred as Internal Security DGP. 1994 batch IPS officer B. Dayananda has been appointed in his place.
Dayananda previously served as Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in Bangalore. B Dayananda, who is currently working as ADGP of Intelligence Department, hails from Ranebennur in Haveri District.
Also, M. A. Salim, the man who was making efforts to sort out Bengaluru’s traffic mess, has been moved out with a promotion.
