A devastating crash involving three trains in the Eastern Indian state of Odisha has killed 275 people and injured more than 1,000.
Due to the horrific crash, many became orphan, childless, fatherless, motherless and widows. This horrific accident shook India and broke many hearts.
As per ‘NDTV’ reports, At least 288 people have been killed and over 1000 were injured in a horrific three-train collision. The crash involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train.
The crash saw trains ram so hard that carriages were lifted high into the air, twisting and then smashing off the tracks. Another carriage had been tossed entirely onto its roof, crushing the passenger section. Over 3,400 passengers were travelling in two trains, according to railway officials.
The cause of the crash is not yet clear.
Ahead of a report into the crash, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw suggested technical interference led to the accident, citing a “change in electronic interlocking” as the probable reason for the crash.
In railway signalling, the electronic interlocking system controls the routes for each train running in a set area, ensuring that they can safely run along the tracks.
An official said the inquiry is headed by the Commissioner of Railway Safety for the South-Eastern Circle – which includes Balasore District where the accident occurred. The report is soon expected with root casuse and people responsible identified.
The accident involved three trains:
They are Coromandel Express, Howrah Superfast Express and a stationary goods train.
On June 3 evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the spot where the accident took place.
India has one of the largest train networks in the world. It runs more than 12,000 passenger trains daily, which are used by tens of millions of passengers to travel across the country – but the infrastructure needs to improve.
Most of the people choose airways and railways for distance travelling. People from Mumbai use train on daily basis. The number of people who travel in railways are increasing by the year.
Our heart goes in condolence to all those who lost their lives and with family members who lost their loved ones in this devasting crash. I hope the respective authority takes responsibility and compensate the loss.
