Bengaluru: After the humiliating defeat in the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2024, the BJP has started background work preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and is looking to avenge the defeat in the Assembly. Thus, the BJP pulls up socks for the election before the year, and there are rumours that there will be major changes in the candidates this time.
It is said that Former Minister V. Somanna will contest from Tumakuru Constituency in the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024. An audio about this has also gone viral. This is the audio said to have been spoken by the sitting MP G. S. Basavaraju himself, which has created a sensation in the state politics.
With the unity of the community anything can be achieved. My seat will be given to Former Minister V. Somanna. An audio purportedly of MP G. S. Basavaraju has gone viral saying that he had already said when he went to Delhi that he would not contest the election. MP G. S. Basavaraju is said to have made this statement at the Veerashaiva Samaja programme.
“If society is united, anything can be achieved. If you fight with your own community, they will kick you out. They know what to do when unity breaks. There are only few people, and I am warning you to be together. In my case, my seat will be given to Somanna,” he said and has advised the community leaders not to pit them against each other.
A lot of people should come forward. I have contested 8 times, out of which there are 5 wins and 3 losses. It was my own people who defeated me, he said and added that whether he lost or won, he kept doing the same thing, and now the audio has gone viral.
Somanna contested the Assembly elections twice and lost. In Varuna Constituency, he contested against Siddaramaiah and lost, but in Chamarajanagara, he lost against Puttarangashetty and suffered embarrassment. It is said that the High Command asked Somanna to leave the Govindaraj Nagar constituency in Bengaluru and contest in two constituencies.
Thus, there is a possibility that the High Command will give him another chance in the Lok Sabha elections. It is learned that there has been a discussion about Somanna contesting from Tumakuru, which has a large Lingayat community. Meanwhile, Basavaraju’s audio has gone viral and Somanna is said to have fixed himself to the Tumakuru Lok Sabha seat ticket.
