Bengaluru: The Congress Government in Karnataka has given a green signal to increase the strength of the Police Department. A mega plan has been put in place to curb criminal activities and maintain traffic order in Bengaluru. The Finance Department of the state Government has received permission to increase the strength of the Police Department by recruiting personnel in two phases for the total of 2,454 posts required at present. Importantly, CCB will have more staff strength.
The numerical strength of CCB will be doubled
CCB, which has important roles including drug peddlers, organised crime, protection of women and children, special investigation, will have one new ACP, 10 inspectors, 6 sub-inspectors, 26 assistant sub-inspectors, 46 head constables and 142 constables. The strength of CCB will be doubled by having 231 personnel including constables.
Following are the plans for the financial year 2023-24.
Firstly, two new traffic police stations will be established with 170 personnel including two inspectors, 12 sub inspectors, 24 assistant sub inspectors, 44 head constables, 88 constables. Six Women Police Stations with a total strength of 246 personnel including six Inspectors, 24 Sub Inspectors, 24 Assistant Sub Inspectors, 48 Head Constables, 144 Constables will be operational. A total of 204 new staff including 16 sub-inspectors, 24 assistant sub-inspectors, 48 head constables, 116 constables will be added to the CEN stations operating in the city. In addition, a total of 35 personnel including one ACP, two inspectors, 4 sub-inspectors, 4 assistant sub-inspectors, 8 head constables, and 16 constables will be added to the cyber crime stations. Apart from this, 48 sub-inspectors, 132 assistant sub-inspectors, 74 head constables will be added to the city’s law and order stations. 318 new staff including 64 constables will be posted. A total of 22 personnel including one ACP, 3 inspectors, 6 sub-inspectors, 4 head constables, and 8 constables will be appointed for the command centre.
In all, 255 personnel including 3 Inspectors, 18 Sub-Inspectors, 36 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 66 Head Constables, 132 Constables will be commissioned for three new traffic police stations. In the second phase, 175 personnel including 24 sub-inspectors, 48 assistant sub-inspectors, 42 head constables, and 61 constables will be added to the traffic police stations.
204 personnel including 16 sub-inspectors, 24 assistant sub-inspectors, 48 head constables, 116 constables will be added to CEN stations. Also, 92 sub-inspectors, 187 assistant sub-inspectors and 279 new staff will be added for the stations where more crime cases are reported. In the second phase, 257 personnel including 10 sub-inspectors, 17 sub-inspectors, 72 head constables, 158 constables will be added.
Also, a total of 15 personnel will be added to the City Special Branch including one Inspector, 2 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 4 Head Constables, 8 Constables. And it has been informed that a total of 43 personnel including one inspector, 2 sub inspectors, 4 assistant sub inspectors, 4 head constables, and 30 constables will be added to the VVIP Security Department.
