The Workshop for Short Film Making was held in the evening on the first day of the film Festival, i.e. June 8 at the Banquet Hall of Thyme, the Nitte Institute of Film Festival (NIFF), Mangaluru. He is known among his enchanted audiences worldwide for his thought-provoking narratives and visually stunning creations.
Director Ganesh B. Shetty enlightened aspiring filmmakers with his mentorship and support. The workshop aims to provide film enthusiasts who endeavour to venture into filmmaking and guide them to make their name in the ever-evolving cinema industry.
Learning from Ganesh Shetty’s vast experience and artistic insights throughout his career in the field of cinema, the workshop started off with the screening of his well known Tulu short film titled Paroksha and no-word yet remarkable docudrama sort of short film Bete. The session was then followed by question and answer session, with the audience gaining insights from the director regarding timeline, duration of filmmaking, his work with other directors, casting from different places, the context of the narrative, etc. The event concluded with personal conversations among the filmmakers, producers and film enthusiasts in the audience for in-depth discussions.
The actor who played the role of the protagonist in the short film Bete was also present at the occasion. It was a successful workshop with an audience of approximately 50 people from various places across the country, most of whom expressed an interest in filmmaking. A Gangavathi-origin youngster flew from Bengaluru, taking a leave from work solely out of passion and love for cinema and filmmaking.
Nitte Film Festival had a huge line up of workshops on Art, Direction, Film Direction, Film reviews, and Art of Storytelling in the coming days. To gather together under the shade of cinema world, alongside the filmmakers, critics, cinema enthusiasts and others, the event commenced with an inaugural session presided by Premendra Mazumder, Vice President of the Federation of Film Societies of India and the General Secretary of the International Federation of Film Critics – India, who served as the Chief Guest and Prof. Dr M…Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University), who graced the event as the Guest of Honour.
