The drive was launched in collaboration with seven resource organisations including Hasiru Dala, Anubhuthi Welfare Foundation, and Samarthanam. The Dry Wate Collectiin Centre Manager and Coordinator of the Green Division, Chinnaiah said that while the items in good condition are recycled or sold, others are sent for recycling. Books in good condition were sent to library run by the Hasiru Dala organisation at Banashankari, while torn books were sent for recycling. Used clothes were given to second hand stores. Similarly, the collected electronic waste was given to e-waste vendors, he said.
BBMP has introduced this programme as part of the “My Life, My Clean City” campaign with the direction of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to implement a nationwide cleanliness programme under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0. The initiative aims to promote citizen participation in waste management and promote a sustainable and waste-free lifestyle.
