Bengaluru: Minister for Minority Welfare B. Z. Zameer Ahmed has instructed the officials that “a person who managed the helpline set up to provide information about the schemes in the Minorities Department was paid a salary of Rs. 4 Lakh per month and continued even though it was not beneficial.”
On June 12, Minister Zameer Ahmed held a departmental progress review meeting. He questioned the officials on how come he was paid three times the salary of the chief secretary of the state? What was the need for a separate helpline system even though the helpline centre costs Rs 2.5 Crore annually? The Minister also said that there should be an investigation into this as he found about the said absurdity, post checking the accounts.
The Minister directed to provide information about the amount paid to the contractor for the works undertaken in the Minority Colony Development Project in five years, and suggested to form a team of experts to go to the place and give a report if there is a proposal for the development of the colonies.
The 29 minority residential schools and colleges in rented buildings should function in own building in one year. He also directed that the 18,800 students who do not get hostel facility under the Vidyasiri Scheme are being paid Rs. 27 Crore annually and to avoid this, land should be identified for construction of new hostel building.
He warned that action will be taken if misuse or omission is found in any works including renovation of community hall, construction of new community hall.
Officials informed that Rs. 56 Crore is required to complete the work of 126 unfinished shaadi mahals and there is also a demand for construction of new shaadi mahals.
