According to Prayagraj police, the three men who were detained after the murder of Former MP Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf have said that they had been stalking the brothers ever since they learned they had been taken into prison by the police.
According to reports, the attackers admitted to the authorities that they planned to kill Atiq and Ashraf in order to get notoriety.
Lavlesh Tiwari (age 22), Mohit (alias Sunny Puraney, age 23), and Arun Kumar Maurya (age 18) are the people who have been detained. According to the police, Tiwari was shot in his right hand during the shooting and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Prayagraj. According to police, his associates fired the bullet.
In the case reported to the Shahganj Police Station, the suspects have been detained on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and violations of the Criminal Law Amendment Act and the Arms Act. Rajesh Kumar Maurya, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Dhoomanganj Police Station, has filed the FIR.
Atiq and Ashraf reported feeling unwell to the police on Saturday night, and a team of 20 officers led by SHO Maurya then took them to Moti Lal Nehru Zonal Hospital (Colvin) for a medical examination. Seven sub-inspectors and 13 constables were also on the team.
In connection with the murder of Umesh Pal, Atiq and Ashraf police had taken the duo into custody for four days.
Atiq and Ashraf allegedly began moving more slowly after spotting reporters at the hospital gate, according to the police. Atiq and Ashraf were fired upon by the attackers as they stopped to speak to the reporters close to the hospital gate.
