Mangaluru: Tannirbhavi beach of city is emerging as the 13th Blue Flag beach in the country. Pune-based BVG India Ltd has invested Rs. 7.56 Crore for the same. The work is being carried out at a cost and will be completed by the end of July.
The new temporary constructions of the blue flag and various facilities amid the beauty of nature along with the high winds and shade ofAacacia trees is sure to attract tourists.
Waste Processing
A solid waste management plant has been constructed for all garbage management within the blueflag beach limits. It will segregate the garbage and if the dry waste is given to the Corporation, manure will be made from the wet waste and utilised for the plants.
Grey Water Unit
A grey water management plant is being constructed for the management of toilet waste here, in which treated water and manure will be again used for plants.
Bamboo building
As per CRZ norms, separate toilets, dressing rooms, and showers have been constructed for women, men, and differently-abled persons. The outer part of the building of the iron container is made of bamboo and is attracting attention.
Wood polymer road
A 1.5-km road will be constructed. It will be wide. A wood polymer composed pathway will be constructed from inside the park to connect it, and give it a walking experience on a road made of wood.
Facing the beach, the office, first aid room, CCTV control room, cameras at five places, drinking water system, and five umbrellas will be constructed to sit while watching the sea and comfortable chairs will also be placed under it.
Safe swimming
400 metre of the beach has been declared as a safe swimming zone and two watch towers have been constructed as the guarding system. At the entrance of the park, there will be a unipole display of the beach’s arrangements, while on the other hand, there will be a large board informing tourists about the water quality.
LED lamp
A 40 kW solar power generator plant, 50 on beach road and 30 LED lights inside the park, and 20 dustbins are being installed. Rescue boats, life-saving jackets, and seaboy ropes are being arranged for the safety of tourists.
Staff Recruitment
Already, 10 local housekeepers, two security guards, a supervisor and a beach manager have been appointed and a few more will be appointed next month.
The entrance to blueflag beach is being constructed by the Mangalore Smart City Project. Food stalls, tableaux, an attractive frame for sea view, and the construction of the Gabeon Wall barrier against the road are sure attract attention of the visitors. It is important to get the work completed on time, for if its works arw delayed, the blueflag system will be disrupted.
The ground-breaking ceremony for the development of the Blue Flag Beach at Tannirbhavi was held in September 2022. One-kilometre stretch will be developed into a Blue Flag beach as per the norms laid down by the Government. One of Dakshina Kannada District’s ambitious projects, it is hoped that the development will bring international recognition to the region.
