Everyone watching the movie ‘Pingaara’ might get a flashback to ‘Kantara’, a film well-received by the masses. So naturally, the audience asked the cast and crew members present during the screening if the movie drew any inspiration from ‘Kantara.’ But ‘Pingaara’ being a 2020 film, has its own story and authenticity, which makes it totally different from ‘Kantara.’
After the screening, One of the audience even commented, ‘ The movie is more authentic than ‘Kantara.’ The movie, which only entered film festivals because of the fear that it won’t be well received, left a great impression on the jam-packed audience at the Nitte International Film Festival. So why was the release of such a great movie withheld? With comedy movies dominating the Tulu film industry, it becomes even more challenging to put out movies with a different approach, said one of the crew members answering the question.
The movie ‘Koramma’, featured on Day 2, and this movie, which were both appreciated for showcasing the stereotypes that exist in our society and the culture of Tulunadu that should be well preserved, showed a way to revive the essence of Tulu Cinema.
