Bengaluru: N. S. Boseraju, the Karnataka Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology, has made a compelling appeal to Chief Minister S. Siddaramiah for the establishment of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raichur City.
In a heartfelt letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Boseraju expressed his gratitude for the Chief Minister’s tireless efforts in bringing AIIMS to Raichur City and his assurance to take up the matter with the Prime Minister.
Boseraju acknowledged that the Chief Minister and the Indian National Congress in the state had demonstrated remarkable foresight by emphasising the need for AIIMS in Raichur in their election manifesto. He highlighted that Raichur had previously been designated as a “priority district” for enhanced development by the Central Government, emphasising the urgent need to pursue the matter with the Central Government. The establishment of AIIMS in Raichur would serve as a significant step towards this objective.
Following NS Boseraju’s letter, Chief Minister S. Siddaramiah wrote to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, underscoring that “Raichur is an aspirational district” and that the proposed AIIMS would contribute to the establishment of a robust healthcare facility in the region.
Boseraju, who has been diligently pursuing this cause for an extended period, lamented the lack of strong leadership in the state and specifically in Raichur District during the previous BJP Government. He noted that the demand for AIIMS in Raichur had been unjustly overlooked, with projects such as the IIT and AIIMS being granted to other districts instead. Boseraju firmly believes that Chief Minister S. Siddaramiah will prioritise this matter, as Raichur deserves its fair share of national-scale development.
