Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) demolition drive against illegal land encroachment started again in eight zones of the city. But for some buildings, the eviction operation has been stopped temporarily by BBMP due to stay. The corporation has decided to demolish the encroached buildings on June 19, which do not have court stay.
Recently, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar said that he will build Better Bengaluru, Vision Bengaluru. He fumed against those encroachers of Rajakaluve who brought stay orders again. Against this backdrop, he had suggested to hold a meeting on June 16 and start the drive to vacate the encroachment. Following this, the BBMP officials started an evacuation operation through JCB in eight zones of Bengaluru on June 17.
On June 18, near Munenakolalu in Mahadevpura, it has been found that huge buildings have been constructed on Rajakaluve. Five to six storied buildings have been constructed illegally on Rajakaluve. Currently BBMP has marked these illegal buildings at the clearance area of the Spice Garden place. SWD has marked the building number and evacuation operation is planned.
BBMP Special Commissioner Triloka Chandra has given a statement in this regard and notice has been given to those who have encroached on the Rajakaluve. The eviction is being done after the court order, he said and added that the evacuation work will be done in Mahadevapura and K. R. Puram.
BBMP has yet another setback in the matter of encroachment clearance. In September, against the Bangalore North Tahasildar’s notice the residents had got a stay order. Tahasildar has not brought to the attention of BBMP about the court injunction. A meeting was held in this regard on June 15 under the leadership of local legislators. Even in the meeting of MLAs, they did not take notice of the restraining order. So the BBMP officials are embarrassed by Tahasildar’s blunder.
