Bengaluru: For a long time, there has been demand from the hotel industry to allow them to function till late night so that it can help a lot of customers who work till late night. However, the city cops had rejected the idea stating that it will create disturbance in the night.
Hotel Owners Association has appealed to Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar that the city of IT/BT companies should be allowed to open hotels 24 hours a day as it is also a densely populated area.
A delegation of hotel owners met and discussed with D. K. Shivakumar after starting the web portal to advise on the development of Brand Bengaluru. It has been requested to settle the problems of opening the hotel 24 hours a day and allow the hotel to open even at night.
Hotel industry should be given industrial status. There are Central and state Government guidelines to open hotels 24 hours a day. But the Police Department does not allow it. The Police Department has allowed the hotel to open only till 1 am. So we should also be allowed to open hotels 24 hours like Kerala, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, they demanded.
Milk, vegetable, flower, fruit, newspaper seller, police, medical staff, work in shift. They need food at night. We provide free drinking water and toilet facility to the people. By opening the hotel at night, more employment will be created. There will be more emphasis on tourism, they said. Therefore, they demanded that the Government should enable the hotel to open 24 hours.
The President of Bangalore Hotel Owners Association, P. C. Rao said that Shivakumar responded positively to this and said that they will call a meeting soon.
