Nalin Kumar Kateel, the incumbent State BJP President, dismissed widespread rumours circulating in the media regarding his resignation from the party’s top position. Categorically denying the claims, Kateel emphasised that the information disseminated by certain media houses was devoid of truth and had no basis in reality.
“I would like to clarify that I have not tendered my resignation as the state BJP President. The reports claiming otherwise are entirely false,” asserted Kateel, in a media interaction.
Responding to the growing speculation surrounding the possible candidacy of V. Somanna as his successor, Kateel took the opportunity to address the recent electoral defeat suffered by the party. He informed party seniors that he had personally assumed responsibility for the unfavourable outcome and apprised them of the factors contributing to the setback. With his four-year tenure as the state BJP President, Kateel expressed confidence in the party’s central leadership and their judicious decision-making process.
“The appointment of the next state BJP President will be determined by the esteemed high command at the appropriate juncture. It is important to note that I have not made any statements indicating my intention to resign from the president’s post. Unfortunately, my words seem to have been misconstrued, leading to the dissemination of inaccurate reports regarding my alleged resignation,” clarified Kateel.
Contrary to media reports published early on June 24, which suggested that Nalin Kumar Kateel had already submitted his resignation letter, the party President refuted such claims. During a recent public event, Kateel did mention the conclusion of his term as the state BJP President, but he did not indicate any intention to step down. The ensuing speculation and heightened competition for the coveted position ensued, with senior leader V. Somanna making his aspirations known.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, it is now evident that Nalin Kumar Kateel retains his role as the state BJP President until it’s officially over. With the party’s central leadership vested with the responsibility of determining the next steps, the focus shifts to the impending decision regarding the leadership transition within the state BJP
