For any country to develop 4 systems are important. One its political system, secondly education system, thirdly healthcare, apart from those another major system is its military system.
There are various countries in the world which has all these 4 sectors very well developed. Even being a small country, but because of its strongest military force many countries have seen development for example, Israel, being a small country, it has the strongest military force due to which it is always ready to face any enemy. Not only having a force but the weapon that forces also matters.
Among the military officials one of the important weapons is the ‘ Electrolaser’.
An electrolaser is a type of electroshock weapon that is also a directed-energy weapon. It uses lasers to form an electrically conductive laser-induced plasma channel. A fraction of a second later, a powerful electric current is sent down this plasma channel and delivered to the target, thus functioning overall as a large-scale, high energy, and long-distance version of the Taser electroshock gun.
Alternating current is sent through a series of step-up transformers, increasing the voltage and decreasing the current. This current is fed into the plasma channel created by the laser beam.
It functions by ionising a corridor of air using laser-induced blooming, then sending an electric current at a target through the conductive channel. This is similar to the way that a lightning discharge works.
An electrolaser may be lethal or non-lethal depending on the voltage used. Normally, blooming is the bane of laser defense technology – at power densities over about a megajoule per square centimeter, a laser strips electrons from the nuclei of air molecules, creating a plasma and redirecting energy away from the main beam. A number of strategies have been devised in attempts to work around this, including the use of large mirrors to project a focus on the target or laser pulses so short that blooming doesn’t have time to occur. The electrolaser is the only directed-energy weapon that takes advantage of blooming rather than working against it.
The plasma region created by laser-induced blooming can be made highly conductive if enough electrons are knocked free from their atomic orbits. This provides the perfect conduit to run a current through to a target at moderate range. Using step-up transformers, an electrolaser system creates a high-voltage, low-amperage alternating current to feed into the plasma corridor.
Due to the plasma channel, an electrolaser may cause an accident if there is a thunderstorm or other electricity sources such as overhead powerlines.
The only defenses against electron particle beam weapons are magnetic fields, electrical insulators, capacitors, electrostatic fields, and Faraday cages.
The electrolaser is one of several directed-energy weapons that certain military leaders and scientists have stated will be the inevitable next step in warfare.
Electrolaser technology would be particularly useful for disabling electronics without the need to fire a shot. Pacifists hope that the non-lethal nature of some electrolaser systems will minimise casualties in conflicts of the future.
