Bengaluru: In the wake of the BJP’s humiliating defeat in the state, factional politics has erupted and the criticism of the reasons for the defeat is gaining momentum. The BJP leaders have been openly making accusations and counter-allegations against each other and have insisted on a change the State President. Meanwhile, a notice has also been issued to the former MLAs for violating the party’s discipline. There are discussions on whether this dissent created in the Kamala camp will have an impact on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Two factions have clearly been created in the BJP right now. Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa’s faction is on one side, while BJP National General Secretary (organisation) B. L l. Santhosh’s faction is on the other. The two factions have been levelling allegations against each other over what led to the defeat.
Pratap Simha, C. T. Ravi and Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, who are part of the B. L. Santosh faction, had initially blamed infighting for the defeat. Former CM B. S. Yediyurappa was indirectly targeted in this allegation. There was also resentment against Basavaraj Bommai.
The BSY faction, which has countered this, is shedding light on another dimension that led to the defeat. Ignoring Former CM B. S. Yediyurappa, confusion over ticket distribution, and not giving tickets to many seniors were said to be the reason. The Congress has not given a befitting reply to the allegations.
Former MLA MP Renukacharya has openly expressed his views on the issue. Not only that, he is also adamant on a change in the State President. With this, he has defeated the Santosh faction of the BJP.
Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out in front of Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai at a BJP workers’ convention in Bagalakote. Former Minister Murugesh Nirani and MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal have openly countered the allegations. With this, the BJP’s infighting has come to the streets.
In spite of all this, the BJP High Command has remained silent. Karnataka is one of the important states in view of the Lok Sabha elections. However, the High Command has not made any entry on the state BJP’s differences and preparations for the next elections. Of course this has piqued people’s curiosity.
