Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar recently met Former All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and rumours are rife that the two discussed the Assembly elections in Telangana later this year.
Shivakumar refused to comment when asked by mediapersons in New Delhi about her role in joining the Congress by Yuvajana Shramik Raitha Telangana Party (YSRTP) Chief Y. S. Sharmila Reddy, who is the daughter of former Andhra Pradesh CM late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
I don’t want to speak about it as I have great respect for his family. Sharmila Reddy and I entered politics together and came to this stage and both of them share mutual respect,”he said.
When asked if he was interested in entering national politics, he joked that he would not enter national politics as he did not know Hindi.
Political analysts are of the view that the party High Command wants to use the experience of Shivakumar, who was instrumental in the Congress’ victory in the Karnataka Assembly elections as KPCC President, in Telangana.
